If you pick up a rock on the ground, a diamond will be similar in shape to that. Of course it'll be a little more diamond-y, but it almost looks like quartz. Shaping up a diamond is a difficult process. You have to use either a laser or other diamonds to cut it. I think I saw on the History Channel that smaller diamonds are cut with a laser and bigger diamonds are cut by hand. They're then polished to give them a great shine.

They look like dirty rocks. Normal rocks you'd see every day. That's why they are so expensive, because it's hard work to find them and clean-cut them. but they last forever and they're beautifull!!
