Jewelry: Is it bad for a diamond’s table to be bigger than its depth percertage?

We are looking at a diamond that is GIA 1.5 carat G Color SI2 Clarity Cut: (My boyfriend doesnt remember) I’m thinking just good.
Table is 61% Depth 60% Symmetry and Polish: Good
No Flour They are asking $7000.

Is this a good deal. I am concerned on the cut! The table being bigger than the depth. I may be looking too much a the stats.

    Depends on how it’s set, sometimes bezel set makes the table looks bigger.

    However, if it’s not cut propertionally, it might not refraction light as well.

    Put a piece of newspaper under it and if you can read it, it’s not cut right.

    There will be differences in the beauty of the diamond when the proportions to it are not ideal. I would say the price is ok, however with the table being greater than the depth and the polish and symmetry being only Good it seems to be an average stone. Nothing extraordinary, nor would it sparkle as well as one with a much better cut.
    My suggestion to you is if this is your approx. budget, to go with one with a little more color to it but one with a lot better cut. Everybody has different opinions but for me I don’t like greater than depth tables. especially on round diamonds. I’ve seen diamonds that are more yellow, (J color) but with a beautiful cut and Ex, Ex polish and symmetries that were breathtakingly beautiful. But don’t get me wrong, i’m not advocating a lower color. However, to answer your question the stats on this diamond WILL affect it’s performance compared to other similar diamonds with much better proportions and cut, the question you need to ask yourself, is which would you rather sacrifice? Carat, Color, or Cut? ( I didn’t mention clarity because you are already considering SI2 which is fine) or to go higher on the budget.
