The jewelry store lost a friend heirloom diamond ring, what can I do legally?
sabrina3131 asked:
A friend of mine brought her Grandmother’s 15 diamond ring to a well know jewelry store to be reset for her upcoming wedding. The store called her and told her they cannot find the ring. What is she entitled to legally? Does she need to sue the store?

she should’ve gotten a receipt when she left it there. she needs to file a claim with their insurance.

yes, she needs to call a lawyer. she entrusted them with a personal item and they didn’t take care of it.

Call the police. No one just “loses” a diamond like that. This is a crime which warrants investigation.

She is entitled to compensation based on the value of the ring. If she has a photo, a jeweler might be able to make a duplicate.
She should also notify the police. They know how to get owners of pawn shops to talk, if someone stole the ring and pawned it.

firstly I assume they gave you a reciept to undertake the work and so you have a number when you come to pick it up?
yes- you can sue the pants off them because the ring was in their care
no- slightly more difficult path, ask them to replace it with a ring to the same value, if they refuse go to the police, file that you had your ring stolen, ask them to access survellence footage from the store to prove that you gave them the ring, from there you should be able to take them to court as now your have video evidence which shows you giving the ring into their care. then sure the @ss off them.
in most cases if you speak to the manager of the store you will be able to come to a compromise and find a way to reach an amicable outcome.

Yes, they are liable and responsible for replacing the ring….which is irreplaceable b/c it’s her grandmother’s ring. That stinks.
hopefully she has had it appraised at some point.
Good luck

if she got a recipt that is good. i would get a lawyer and sue that place for how much that ring was worth and maybe more! i hope they end up finding the ring!

How awful…..
Call the police and have them start an investigation ….than contact a lawyer and start a lawsuit……

She has a Property Legal Issue and it can be resolved with a payment from the Jeweler. The most affordable way to get access to an Attorney/Law Firm in your State that will handle this legal matter is below. Just watch the online movie presentation. With this service, you will see results.

She can sue them, but the store’s insurance company would probably settle with her.
