what kind of acid do jewelers dip gold & diamond jewelry in to clean it? what is the best thing to clean them?

diamond jewelry
Diane asked:

I would like to keep the shine without having to be without my rings for a day or two. The cleaner you can get at drugstores just doesn’t get them shiny enough.

Try a commercial cleaning agent like TarnX or Tarn Away. If you want you could try a mix of 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup water and 1 teaspoon salt. Rub this on with a clean cotton cloth. When finished rinse thoroughly with cold water.
